THE NEW KITE

An elementary reading comprehension printable worksheet on a story about a girl named Sue Ellen and her new kite. The story is appropriate for individual or guided reading. Use this lesson to help build reading skills and reading readiness. Also good for general reading practice.

Objectives:

The student will be able to read a short story to his/her self and answer comprehension questions based on information from the story.

The student will be able to write an appropriate conclusion to the story.

THE NEW KITE STORY READING WORKSHEET

Directions:

Print the New Kite reading comprehension passage and questions (see below).

The students will be asked to read the short story and answer the questions that follow. Students with special needs may need to have the story and questions read aloud to them

Text from the story:

Sue Ellen was looking forward to flying her new kite. She had gotten it as a birthday present last month. It was blue with red stars. She had not been able to fly her kite yet. The weather had not been right.

Today was a great day for kite flying. The wind was perfect. Sue Ellen took her kite to the park. She unrolled a small amount of string and started to run.

The kite began to climb in the air. She slowly unrolled more line.
