INTRODUCTION TO MUSIC:
NOTE VALUES, REST VALUES, AND TIME SIGNATURES

This music lesson will introduce note values, rest values, and time signatures to the student. Includes printable teaching reading comprehension lesson worksheets.

Objectives:

Define note value. Illustrate whole note, half note, quarter note, eighth note and sixteenth note.

Define rest. Illustrate whole rest, half rest, quarter rest, eighth rest, and sixteenth rest

Define time signature. Illustrate 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures.

2nd Grade - 3rd Grade - 4th Grade

Directions:

Students should read the passage silently, then answer the questions. Teachers may also use the text as part of a classroom lesson plan.
