Text from the story:
Beth looked down at her red
dress. It was beautiful. She touched her ponytails.
Mom stood behind her. "Are your shoes
too tight?" she asked.
Beth wiggled her toes. She touched the big
red strawberry on each shoe. "They aren't
too tight," Beth said.
"Okay. Let's go." Mom put on her
coat.
Beth was quiet on the way to school. She looked
at her strawberries and patted her skirt.
"You will like your new school,"
Mom said.
Beth looked up at the tall building. There
were colorful pictures on one window. "We
made better pictures at my old school,"
she said.
Mom and Beth got out of the car. They walked
up a long path. Beth looked up at the window
with the pictures. A girl with long dark hair
looked back at her. Beth looked at her shoes.
They felt tight as she walked inside.
A man with yellow glasses smiled at them.
"Hello Beth," he said. "I'm
Mr. Pickle, your principal. Welcome to your
new school."
