PHYSICAL EDUCATION LESSON PLAN:
JUMP ROPE JAM

 


Objectives:

Student will design a three-minute jump rope routine to music in a team of four students demonstrating ability to work within a group, and developing strength and endurance by jumping rope while counting in patterns of two, four or six to the beat of the music.

JUMP ROPE JAM LESSON

 

Materials:

  • Jump Rope Jam lesson plan (see below).
  • Gym floor or hard surface
  • Upbeat music CD/tape and player
  • Extended length jump ropes [double Dutch ropes]
  • Clock/stop watch

Instructional Procedures:        Musical Team Jump Rope
                       
Team of Four Activity:

  1. Each team of four consists of a team leader, two choreographers and one timer [students will vote within their team on various positions].
  2. Students will select a piece of music on first day of week one and begin practicing their jump rope routine during regular P.E. class. Teacher must approve music selection and be informed of number pattern decided by team [to the beat of two, four or six]. Students can incorporate basic calisthenics as well as dance movements to their routine.
