CREATIVE WRITING LESSON PLAN
LESSON 5: DIALOGUE

 

Goal: To familiarize students with the ways in which dialogue makes a story come alive.

Objective: Students will be able to identify the ways in which a character's unique personality changes the way he or she would speak about something.

Grade Level: 3rd through 6th

 

 

 

 
 

 

 

CREATIVE WRITING: DIALOGUE AND CONVERSATION

 

Procedure:

  1. Read and discuss the lesson with students. See below for printable student lesson.
  2. Provide copies of the activity page for students to complete.
  3. Have students share their responses to the items on the activity page.
  4. Provide feedback for student responses and review short story. Have students revise their stories after feedback is given.

Assessment :

  • Completion of activity page with original dialogue for each of the characters given.
  • A draft of an original short story.
