Lesson Excerpt
What the climate is like depends on the weather. When it rains or snows that has to do with the climate. The same is true when it is nice and sunny outside. Climate is the condition of the atmosphere based on the location near the surface of the Earth. There is also such a thing as the global climate.
The global climate is when you take all the climates on earth and add them together. The result is one big climate for the entire world. This means that if the Earth keeps getting warmer and warmer that all the separate climates are getting warmer, as well.
There are 3 main regions of climate, and 11 areas that are broken down within the three regions. The three regions are the Polar region, the Subtropical region, and the Tropical region.
The 11 sub-regions are:
Polar - Ice Caps
Polar - Tundra
Subtropical -- Dry Summer
Subtropical -- Dry Winter
Subtropical -- Humid
Subtropical -- Marine West Coast
Subtropical -- Mediterranean
Subtropical -- Wet
Tropical -- Monsoon
Tropical -- Savannah or Grasslands
Tropical -- Wet
