THE CIRCUS

An elementary reading comprehension printable worksheet on a story about the circus coming to town. The story is appropriate for individual or guided reading. Use this lesson to help build reading skills and reading readiness. Also good for general reading practice.

Objectives:

The student will be able to read a short story to his/her self and answer comprehension questions based on information from the story.

The student will be able to write an appropriate conclusion to the story.

THE CIRCUS STORY READING WORKSHEET

Directions:

Print The Circus reading comprehension passage and questions (see below).

The students will be asked to read the short story and answer the questions that follow. Students with special needs may need to have the story and questions read aloud to them.

Text from the story:

Today was the day the circus came to town. Mike and Emily were very excited. Their mom and dad told them they could go if they cleaned up their rooms.

They had finished in no time. They left the house at 2:00. They got there early so they could get good seats. Mike and Emily sat in the front row. The lights went out when the show started.
